Organic Kona Coffee What makes it so so great?

A lot of times we hear people ask why should I buy 100% Kona Coffee, what makes it better? Kona Coffee is an artisan coffee, complete with heavy manual labor and expertise in farming. This is fair trade coffee, the only state that grows coffee in the United States. Our Monastere Kona Coffee is also organic coffee, certified by the USDA. Every aspect of our cultivation aims toward one thing, conservation of natural resources and native habitat. And if that isn't enough tedious attention to the growing of our coffee, makes for a distinctly rich tasting cup of coffee.

Organic Coffee from Kona Hawaii

This is one of the top coffees in the world, if not the best. What differentiates our cup of coffee from the next? A simple enough answer is we do things differently on our farm. Our farm has believed from it's inception that integrated agro-forestry was vital to the philosophy of our practices. Maintaining these 10 acres, as a sanctuary, for the creatures and plant life, who inhabited this farm before. This organic coffee is truly shade grown, shaded by the old growth trees indigenous, or planted eons ago by the ancient Hawaiians for food. We honor these traditions and have left the permaculture intact.

We are still picking our coffee cherries as this has been a late harvest, but very good for our whole bean coffee production, the are very large and ripe and the ideal purple color. We have started to transplant new trees, and plan to plant another 2 acres, there is much work to be done. The new planting area is quite nice, with a small pond at the bottom, we even saw some wild turkeys in the field. More on this to come...

Oganic Kona Coffee

Key farm workers attended several seminars today on coffee, including "Shade grown Coffee" and Nutritional information which was very informative. The most interesting point that we found was the information on several organic farms in south Kona, who were also involved in many of the methods already in place at our farm. Our goal has always been to be in tune with the environment, letting nature lead the team in our practices, taking lessons from our fore bearers on a sustainable permaculture, with an emphasis on native species preservation among our organic crops; oranges, macadamia nuts, lemons, avocados and our newest, cacao (chocolate). We also pan in the near future to plant vanilla beans, to complete our all organic line up.
