Our Kona Coffee is certified by the USDA as Organic, our standards go far beyond this licensing enity. Nothing we use on our farm is made in a chem lab, nothing. Our animals do most of the hard work of gardening and fertilizing, they are vegetarians. We use no machinery to pick our coffee, every bean is hand picked and processed from seedling to tree, we use only nature's gifts to grow our crops.

Planting more Cacoa Trees

We have planted more Cacoa (Chocolate) Trees this week, in an effort to complete our line of USDA Certified Organic Coffee flavorings, which include Macadamia Nut and Orange. We are planting in the understory of our native trees and are striving to unify every facet of production, to assure our customers that we sell only USDA Certified Organic Kona Coffee as well as our flavorings produced at the same location.

In the future we plan to plant Vanilla Beans as well, to complete our Organic Lineup.

Farm Team Testing Coffee Roasters

Key members of our farm travelled around the island today and went to a few roasters, we are seeing if we can perfect roaster for our organic coffee , to an even more exquisite flavor, we have a lot of work to do yet. We are still picking our coffee cherries as this has been a late harvest, but very good for our whole bean coffee production, the are very large and ripe and the ideal purple color. We have started to transplant new trees, and plan to plant another 2 acres, there is much work to be done. The new planting area is quite nice, with a small pond at the bottom, we even saw some wild turkeys in the field. More on this to come...

Biodiversity at our Farm

Biodiversity is a subject in the media today, and we thought it would be a excellent time to illustrate our commitment to a comprehensive adherence to this mission. From the outset about 40 years ago, this farm decided that native species both animal and vegetation should be preserved and protected. Among our certified organic coffee , avocados, Macadamia nuts and oranges there are also as many indigenous plants and trees. Our farming methods promote sustainability and harmony with nature.

Oganic Kona Coffee

Key farm workers attended several seminars today on coffee, including "Shade grown Coffee" and Nutritional information which was very informative. The most interesting point that we found was the information on several organic farms in south Kona, who were also involved in many of the methods already in place at our farm. Our goal has always been to be in tune with the environment, letting nature lead the team in our practices, taking lessons from our fore bearers on a sustainable permaculture, with an emphasis on native species preservation among our organic crops; oranges, macadamia nuts, lemons, avocados and our newest, cacao (chocolate). We also pan in the near future to plant vanilla beans, to complete our all organic line up.

This in our continuing effort to educate and promote our team. Also we are still picking our premium organic Kona coffee, as the season is a little late in ripening, giving us the opportunity to pick coffee cherries as big as kalamata olives!

From Jungle to Organic Coffee Farm

36 Years ago our farm was only jungle, untouched for thousands of years. At that time through the labors of our founder, a paradise was formed dedicated to the methods of organic farming. Before organic was popular this farm has never used any synthetic products to control nature, understanding that nature was in control. Located on the mountainside of the southern Kona district, the climatic conditions and vegetation make a remarkable shade grown coffee bush. Our production is extremely limited and hand picked perfection, to give you the best whoke bean on the planet.
